アーセナル・ウィメンFCと女子サッカー部シエンシアとの交流は来年で30周年となります。
コロナ禍以前はイングランドで夏合宿を実施し、2023年からはアーセナルよりコーチを招聘してトレーニング指導を実施しています。
この度、2024年9月に来日されたハナコーチが女子サッカー部との交流について、アーセナル機関誌に掲載いただきました。

This month, Arsenal Women’s Academy Manager Hannah Paterson and Player Care Lead Carly Williams travelled to Yoshimi, Japan, to visit Musashigaoka College. The visit continued a relationship that dates back to the late 1990s when Musashigaoka College, a leading force in Japanese player development, began touring the world in search of competitive opportunities in the women’s game.
今月、アーセナルマネージャーのハナとプレーヤーケアリードのカーリーが日本の吉見町にある武蔵丘短期大学を訪れた。1990年代後半、日本人選手の育成を牽引していた武蔵丘短期大学が女子サッカー界で競争力のある場を探し求めて世界を回り始めた、その頃から交流が続いている。
The college forged a relationship with the Gunners that led to the college squad returning annually for more than ten years, playing Arsenal squads led by Vic Akers and featuring legends such as Rachel Yankey, Jayne Ludlow, Alex Scott, and Kelly Smith.
武蔵丘短期大学はアーセナル（愛称：ガーナーズ）との関係を推し進めるなかで10年以上もの間アーセナルを毎年のように訪問するようになった。さらにアーセナルを代表するレジェンドであった、レイチェル、ジェーン、アレックス、ケリーが所属する、当時ヴィック監督率いるアーセナルチームとも対戦した。
In 2006, Musashigaoka celebrated their tenth year of visits by facing Arsenal in a friendly at Queenswood, which the Gunners won 3-0, with both Lianne Sanderson and Jayne Ludlow on the scoresheet. The relationship continued in 2011 when Musashigaoka sponsored Arsenal to complete an 11-day charity tour to Japan. The tour included high-quality competitive opportunities for the Gunners, including a 1-1 draw against Japanese title winners INAC Kobe at the Tokyo National Stadium. The tour culminated in a 5-1 victory over the Musashigaoka College side, with Kim Little, Alex Scott, Ellen White, and Jen Beattie all on the scoresheet that day.

In 2014, Arsenal returned to Japan with a squad led by Pedro Martinez Losa to compete in the International Women’s Club Championship, and once again, they were reunited with the college squad as they took time out from a busy competition schedule.

In more recent years, the Musashigaoka College squad continued to visit North London and share valuable experiences with the club by receiving coaching from Academy staff and enjoying matchdays at Meadow Park. With the impact of the pandemic limiting the college’s opportunities to travel outside of Asia, for the past two years Arsenal Academy staff have travelled to Yoshimi to visit the college and share knowledge, experience, and practice.
最近では、武蔵丘短期大学がアーセナルを訪問し北ロンドンにてクラブコーチから指導を受けるなど、貴重な経験をした。さらにはミドーパークでサッカー観戦をしたりと有意義な時間を過ごした。コロナによるパンデミックの影響を受け、武蔵丘短期大学はアジアを超えての活動は制限されることとなり、2年もの間、アカデミースタッフが吉見町にある短大を訪問し、知識、経験等の共有を行ってきた。
Last year, Elliot Allum, Arsenal’s Professional Development Phase Lead, and James Lee, Performance Lead, spent four days at the college, leading on-field sessions and delivering lectures focused on leading the professional development phase and performance training “the Arsenal way.”
昨年には、アーセナルにおいてプロの育成リードであるエリオットとパフォーマンスリードであるジェームズが4日間、武蔵丘短期大学にてフィールドセッションやアーセナル独自のプロ育成フェーズとパフォーマンストレーニングのレクチャーを行った。
This year, on-field sessions and lectures focused on the recent evolution of academy provision, along with the growing focus on individual development and player wellbeing. Academy Player Care Lead Carly Williams said, “I’m always grateful for the opportunity to share our coaching practice on the pitch and lectures centred on player development on and off the pitch, with wellbeing at the forefront. The college players and staff were fantastic hosts, showcasing their talent and engaging with the opportunity to collaborate with us. It was a great experience to continue the relationship into a new era.”

Academy Manager Hannah Paterson added, “We’ve had the most amazing experience at the college, and we’re incredibly grateful to our hosts for such a warm welcome and for their generous hospitality throughout our visit. The relationship between the club and college is a very special one, dating back to the club’s very earliest existence, and it’s one we are pleased to be able to continue.”

In their tenth year of visiting England and establishing a partnership with Arsenal Ladies, Musashigaoka College put out a strong and disciplined team in their last friendly last night, eventually losing 3-0. Arsenal fielded their first team in the first half and got off to a lightning start by scoring through Lianne Sanderson with only one minute on the clock. Jayne Ludlow then made it 2-0 after 35 minutes. The Japanese team quickly regrouped and held the score for the rest of the half.

The second half saw a complete change for the Gunners by fielding their young players, who pressed on and added a further goal from Sinead Kerr. Arsenal now have just one more friendly against Millwall this weekend before the start of the season for both the first team, who play Blackburn away, and the reserves, who take on Bristol Academy at home on Sunday, August 20.
